The regular meeting of International Nickel Study Group (INSG) was held during 25th to 26th of April in Lisbon, Portugal.

In then lecture presentation, INSG made a report of the world nickel production volume as the primary product such as 1.983 million tons in the calendar year 2015 and made a forecast of the production volume in the calendar year 2016 to be 1.913 million tons.

On the one hand, the consumption was 1.89 million tons in the calendar year 2015, and is forecast to be 1.962 million tons in the calendar year 2016.

Figures reported as to the production and consumption are as shown in the table below, and the nickel production from 2014 to 2015 continued to be down from the prior year, whereas the consumption showed a gradually increasing trend, but the demand and supply balance continued to be in a state of oversupply.

Besides, as the production curtailment will become larger in the calendar year 2016, the demand and supply balance is forecast to be in a state of the consumption being more than the production.
