[Ferro-Alloys.com]According to the forecast (based on a monthly average) on the demand for special steel products during April to June in 2016 the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry released on April 5, the demand for domestic consumption is 1.0268 million tons (down by 1.6% from the prior period) and the one for international export is 489,900 tons (down by 2.8% ditto), which amounts to 1.5167 million tons (down by 2.0% ditto). There are many cases of the figures being down from the prior period in the period from April to June which is right after the settlement of accounts.

On the one hand, when compared with the year-earlier period, the demand for domestic consumption is down by 3.3% and the one for international export is down by 1.4%, which is due to the weak demand for the energy industry in addition to the weak demand for cars meant for ASEAN and construction machineries.

Under these situations, the demand for stainless steel is relatively firm, and especially the demands for steel bar meant for both domestic consumption and international export are expected to be up from the year-earlier period.

As to the inventory of steel products at home, the inventory of ordinary steel is expected to be 6.6 million tons at the end of March, and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry analyzes that the inventory level by steel type is not at a dangerous level although there is an impression the inventory levels of some types of steel products are high.

The forecast on demand by type of steel products is as shown in the table posted in the article dated April 6 with a title of "Forecast on Demand for Special Steel during April to June 2016".
