According to United States Steel Corporation (USS) said that the company planned to
idle steel plants and lay off workers in Alabama, Ohio and Texas, in order to control costs in response to sharp drop in steel prices.

Meanwhile, United States Steel Corporation said that the layoff measures related to Alabama, Texas and Ohio steel pipe plants, together with its Houston oil service and sales offices of the 650 workers.
