Brazil's September exports of ferroalloys fell 25.9% compared to the same month in 2013, to 26,109 mt from 35,238 mt, even though sales increased 40.6% year-over-year, to $241 million FOB from $171.4 million FOB, according to data from related resource, the country's Ministry of Development and Foreign Trade.

Compared to August totals, September's shipments grew 15%, followed by an increase of 21% in sales from 227,717 mt and $198.8 million FOB, respectively.

The Netherlands were the primary destination for Brazil's ferroalloys last month, importing 4,420 mt, 21% down from the 5,596 mt the European country imported from Brazil in the year-ago period, and 18% below August's 5,413 mt of Brazilian-product imports.

Sales to the Netherlands in September reached $57.8 million FOB, growing 53% year on year and falling 9% month over month, from $37.6 million FOB and $63.3 million FOB, respectively.

China was the second largest buyer of Brazil's ferroalloys in last month, importing 4,405 mt, down 73% from 16,107 mt bought in September 2013 and 238% up from August's 1,302 mt.

Sales to China totaled $51.3 million FOB, an increase of 3% from September 2013's $49.6 million FOB and 98% above August's $25,910 million FOB in US sales.

Ferrosilicon, ferronickel, and ferroniobium accounted for 96% of Brazilian shipments and 99% of sales in September.
