Prices for high-carbon ferrochrome (60% Cr; 6-8% C;3% Si max) in India have been quoted this week at $0.84-0.87/lb Cr F0B India (down $0.01/lb Cr on the lower end of the last week's price range). A batch of the material has been shipped to South America at $0.92/lb Cr CIF. The alloys have been shipped with to Europe at the lower end of the price range.

Many sellers keep speculating on the absence of one of the key players - Tata Steel. Large FeCr producers think such moves are groundless as consumption does not come up right now. Shipments to China are not made, demand is steady in the domestic market and sales are occasional.

Tata Steel has not resumed production so far due to the non-prolongation of the mining licence. The problem is that the volume the company has at mines is higher than its facilities require. In mid-August,Metals & Ferro Alloys has managed to prolong its mining licence.
