Mechel Has Big Plans for Bratsk

 Mechel has signed contracts to purchase four electric furnaces for Bratsk, each with a capacity of 33 MVA to replace the existing furnaces. The refurbishment will take place during 2011-2012 and after the project is completed Bratsk’s capacity will increase by 30% and its power consumption will be reduced by 10-13%.

Bratsk’s current capacity is 91,000 mtpy of ferrosilicon. The project will be financed via credit facility provided by Sberbank.
