The establishment of a permanent transport council to bring together government and the private sector across all the transport modes of land, air and sea is an excellent move. State-owned Transnet has shown that it cannot provide the required efficiency on its own and the offer of the private sector to assist must be taken up for the good of the people of South Africa.
