Severstal’s crude steel output up in 2013

The Russian steelmaker Severstal released its operating result for the Q4 and 2013.

The company’s crude steel output totaled 3.78 million tons in the fourth quarter of 2013, dropping by 7% from a quarter ago. At the same time, the company’s hot metal output decreased by 1% from the previous quarter to hit 2.68 million tons.

In 2013, Severstal increased its crude steel output by 4% to 15.7 million tons from last year. Production of hot metal also saw an increase of 5% from 2012, reaching 10.71 million tons.

In the same year, Severstal's Russian Steel division posted a 3% rise in steel product sales and Severstal North America reported a 4% decrease, both compared to the figures in a year ago.
