Prices for Brazilian and Russian pig iron remained $425 per mt, c.i.f. Bargeload pig iron sales in the US were reported as high as $432. A distressed parcel of 30,000 mt of northern Brazilian pig iron that had been rejected by a US mill because of its phosphorus content reportedly found a home. Another major mini mill reportedly purchased the 30,000 mt for $400 per mt, f.o.b. Cincinnati. The price was not indicative of the current market, sources said. It is not clear whether the mill will consume the pig iron or give it to its subsidiary to resell in the market.
