Brazilian Iron Ore Export Revenues down 2.75% in February - Secex

[Ferro-alloys.com]Iron ore exports from Brazil generated revenue of US$2.13bn in February, down 2.75% from US$2.19bn in the year-ago month, according to the latest figures from foreign trade department Secex.
 
Brazil shipped 20.7Mt of iron ore abroad in February, 3.7% less than the 22.7Mt exported in February 2012, but the average sale price increased 6.6% to US$102.9/t from US$96.6/t, Secex reported.
 
The biggest increases in shipments were to Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
 
Iron ore has been Brazil's main export since 2000.
 
Export revenue from flat rolled steel products grew 27.6% to US$136mn as volumes soared 80.7% to 204,000t, though the average sale price sank 29.4% to US$668.6/t, the figures show.
 
Sales abroad of iron and steel semi-manufactured products brought in US$247mn in the second month of the year, a 45% drop year-on-year as volumes fell 32.2% to 498,900t and prices slipped 18.9% to US$495.5/t.

Meanwhile, Brazil's aluminum exports brought in US$51mn, down 55.8% in February mostly due to a 54.9% smaller shipment volume of 25,100t, while the price per tonne dipped 2% to US$2,035.
