Chemours raises Titanium Dioxide prices

[Ferro-Alloys.com] Chemours has raised its titanium dioxide prices for the for the fourth time in just over a year.

Effective March 1, a net price increase of $0.06 per pound will apply for all titanium dioxide prices in North America and Canada. A price increase of $150 per ton will apply to all titanium dioxide grades sold in Asia Pacific; a price increase of $200 per tonne will apply for titanium dioxide grades sold in Latin America, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa. All titanium dioxide prices sold in Western and Central Europe, Turkey and North Africa will have a price increase of 200 Euros per tonne.

Demand for titanium dioxide  has jumped in 2016 because of expansion in the automotive and construction industries, the two biggest users of paint made with titanium dioxide pigments. Grand View Research, a San Francisco-based consulting and analysis firm, estimates demand for certain titanium dioxide products could experience it's highest growth in recent years in the period between 2015 and 2022. In a recent analyst report, Grand View expects demand for titanium dioxide will jump about five percent in the six years.

Other players in the titanium dioxide market also raised prices in response to demand. Huntsman Corp., Chemours' chief competitor in the titanium dioxide market said Thursday morning it would also raise its titanium dioxide prices, effective April 1.
