[Ferro-Alloys.com]European ferrovanadium players have been largely absent from the market over the past couple of weeks and, as a result, neither demand nor prices experienced variation. The price for FeV within Europe held at $25.50-26 per kg. Sources noted that buyers were not as active to close out 2013 as was originally expected. Consequently, some speculate that buyers are likely to seek supply for first quarter production requirements during January; price increases are expected at that point.  In comparison, everything within the US market points toward higher ferrovanadium prices in the near-term; however, business has not been robust enough to warrant an overall price index change just yet. Some sou

rces have noted small lot transactions within the $12.50-13 per lb mark, yet despite some small consumer transactions, the bulk of business has been mostly inter-trade.  Prices remain at $12.25-12.65 per lb, yet with strong contract requirements in 2014 and limited discounts, price increases are also likely within the US market in the coming weeks and well into the first quarter of the new year.
