[Ferro-Alloys.com]It is reported that China failed to import manganese ore at Lianyungang Port in January according to statistic provided by Inspection and Quarantine Bureau of Lianyungang. It is said that this is the first time that manganese ore imports showed zero in the last decade.

Manganese is mainly used for the smelting of steel and the manufacture of electric battery.

Currently, the import of Manganese ore in Lianyungang has been hugely affected by the downturn of steel industry. Actually, since 2015, the overall situation of the domestic import of manganese ore is negative.

According to the statistics by General Administration of Customs, by 2015 the total domestic import of manganese ore are 15.76 million tons, which declined by 3.84% compared with 2014.
