According to statistic of Japan Customs, Japan imported 18215 tons of silicon metal in August, up by 1.9% Y-O-Y. The materials were mainly imported from China with import volume at 17717 tons.

In August, Brazil exported 11285 tons of silicon metal (Si<99.99%), falling down by 14.2% M-O-M and down by 14.7% Y-O-Y. In Jan-August, 2014, Brazil totally exported 94568 tons of silicon metal, up by 2.9% Y-O-Y.

According to statistic National Bureau of Statistic of China, China export 81182 tons of silicon metal in August, up by 17.73% Y-O-Y, and materials were mainly shipped to S.Korea and Japan with quantities respectively at 14657 tons and 16133 tons.

According to the statistic, Chinese calcium carbide production was 2.129 million tons in August, up by 14.1% Y-O-Y.
