[Ferro-Alloys.com] Due to the slump in the global economy, share prices for companies in the aluminum sector such as Alcoa and Bauxite Resources have become very attractive.

Alcoa is the largest aluminum company in the world. Bauxite Resources, based in Australia, is the largest tenement holder in the Darling Range which is the largest alumina region in the world. From this sector of Western Australia, almost one quarter of the world's production is generated.

Due to the attractiveness and versatility of aluminum there is a huge global demand. This has naturally attracted potential buyers for aluminum companies. BHP Billiton also based in Australia has been mentioned as a potential buyer of an aluminum entity.

The world's largest mining company, BHP Billiton was reported by an article in Business week to be interested in becoming a one stop shop for commodities buyers. To accomplish this, BHP Billiton needs to fill out the aluminum void in its metals lineup.
