[Fellow]Ferrous Metallurgy Industrial Criterion for Alloy Cored Wire of the People’s Republic of China YB/T 053-93

Ⅰ Subject Contents and Application Scope

This criterion specified product category, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules as well as marks for package, storage and transportation and quality certificate of alloy cored wires.

This criterion is applicable to all kinds of alloy powder used in steelmaking and casting and alloy cored wires coated with a certain thickness of cold-rolled annealing steel strip and made by rolling and pulling.

Ⅱ Referenced Criterion

GB223 Methods of Analysis of Iron and Steel and Alloys

GB716 Carbon Structural Steel Cold Rolled Steel Strip

GB3282 Ferrotitanium

GB3419 Silicon-Calcium Alloy

GB3526 Low Carbon Steel Cold Rolled Steel Strip

GB4137 Rare Earth Magnesium Silicon Ferro Alloy

GB5682 Boron Ferro

GB13237 High Quality Carbon Structural Steel Cold Rolled Steel Plate and Steel Strip

Ⅲ Classification

  1. Alloy cored wire is divided into single alloy cored wire and compound alloy cored wire according to composition of core material. Single alloy cored wire is that takes one kind of alloy powder as the core powder. Compound alloy cored wire is that takes more than two kinds of alloy powder as the core powder.
  2. Alloy cored wire is divided into circular wire and rectangle wire according to the shape of cross section.
  3. Alloy cored wire is divided into inside tapped wire and outside tapped wire according to wire arranging ways.

Ⅳ. Technical Requirements

  1. Technical requirements for alloy powder used in alloy cored wire should meet the provisions of GB3283, GB3419, GB4137, GB4138 and GB5682 respectively.
  2. The main characteristics of alloy cored wire that takes Ca28Si60 and Ca31Si60 as the powder should meet the provisions of the following form.

Note: For any special requirement beyond the form, the supplier and the demander should settle it through negotiation.

  1. is a reference value.

  1. For using cored wire that takes other alloy powder as the core powder, the characteristics are determined by the supplier and the demand through negotiation.
  2. Alloy powder grain of alloy cored wire should keep dry which humidity shall not more than 0.5%. No other impurities are allowed to be mixed. Before coating, compound alloy core powder should be mixed evenly. Chemical composition and batch of alloy powder should meet the provisions of GB3282, GB3419, GB4137, GB4138 and GB5682
  3. The selected steel strip of alloy cored wire should meet the provisions of GB716, GB3526 and GB13237.
  4. Alloy cored wire should be firmly coated and seamed precisely with no leak, crack, broken wire, void package, empty package. It should be clear on surface with no greasy dirt.

Ⅴ. Experiment Method

1. Measure the section size of outer section with Vernier calipers. Each plate is measured for not less than 5 times respectively at different parts with not less than 1m of interval.

2. Finished products of alloy cored wire are 10 plates per batch. One plate is chosen randomly for each batch. Take any part for 10 to 20m as a sample for testing on geometric size, mass of core powder at unit length and technical requirements.

Ⅵ. Rules of Inspection

  1. Technical supervision department of the producer is responsible for quality inspection of alloy cored wire.
  2. As inspecting, if any inspection item is non-conforming, the inspected plate of alloy cored wire is non-conforming. One sample should be taken from other two plates of the alloy cored wire of the same batch for re-inspection on non-conforming item (in addition to chemical composition of alloy cored wire). If one sample for re-inspection is non-conforming, the batch of alloy cored wire is non-conforming. Plate-by-plate inspection is allowed. The conforming plate is deliverable.

Ⅶ. Package, storage and transportation, mark and quality certificate

  1. Package

The outline out of alloy cored wire is wrapped with a piece of plastic cloth tightly and then is wrapped with a sack.

  1. Storage and transportation

Alloy cored wire should be stored in a warehouse. As freighting, covered truck or containers should be used to ensure protection from dampness.

  1. Mark and quality certificate

A mark for no fading shall be affixed to the outer side of each plate to indicate name, size, mass, class, production unit, batch number and production date of the alloy cored wire.
