【Ferro-Alloys.com】The Industry Department of the National Development and Reform Commission hosted a seminar on carbon peaking in the steel, non-ferrous metals, and building materials industries. The meeting focused on scientifically formulating carbon peaking plans for key industries, promoting low-carbon transformation of industries, and improving energy efficiency. The National Development and Reform Commission will resolutely implement the decisions and deployments of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, promptly study and introduce relevant policies and measures, organize relevant departments to actively formulate carbon peaking plans, and actively promote the green and low-carbon transformation and sustainable development of related industries.

The agency pointed out that the steel demand side has been continuously recovering driven by the overall macroeconomic recovery, and the manufacturing industry's domestic and overseas resonances have a clear upward trend. On the supply side, the large background constraints of carbon neutrality and carbon peaking are expected to bring about an unexpected contraction of production. It is expected that the steel industry will have a significant gap between supply and demand, and the industry's profit center will increase significantly.
