Georgian American Alloys, Inc., the parent company of Felman Production LLC, CC Metals and Alloys, LLC, Felman Trading, Inc. and Georgian Manganese, LLC, today announced that it has reduced production of silicomanganese at its Georgian based operations for an indefinite period of time. Georgian Manganese, LLC, a leading producer and exporter of silicomanganese to the United States, has idled one of its electric arc furnaces at its Zestafoni Ferroalloy Plant, effective June 1, 2014.

The extended idle period will allow for Georgian Manganese to commence planned upgrades to the furnace aimed at increasing its efficiency. The shutdown will reduce Georgian Manganese’s production of silicomanganese by approximately 2,500 tons per month.

“The planned shutdown reflects a continuation of our strategy to improve production methods and modernize equipment to increase operational efficiency and enhance our competitive position over the long-term,” said Velvel Lozynskyy, Director of Georgian Manganese.

Georgian Manganese’s Zestafoni Ferroalloy Plant produces approximately 180,000 metric tons of silicomanganese annually. As an indirect, wholly-owned subsidiary of Miami, Florida-based Georgian American Alloys, Inc. (“GAA”), Georgian Manganese’s product is sold internationally via the extensive distribution network of sister company Felman Trading, Inc.
