[Ferro-Alloys.com] According to the statistics of China Customs, Chinese import volume of coal kept increasing. It is expected that coal users would be more rational and would buy more coal in the second half year. Furthermore, the coal demand for coastal areas has improved which would be a plus factor for coal market. The depression for coal market would be eased and imported ore would be reduced.

For the first half of the year, total imported coal has reached 139 million mt, increased 65.9% (y.o.y). With imported coal increasing, domestic coal suppliers have strength the competition with foreign suppliers. As a result, the fierce competition depressed the domestic coal market and made it oversupply. Meanwhile, southeast of China’s economy has slowed down, accompanying with a reduction in electricity and coal usage. Therefore, the supply and demand of coal was imbalance which caused an overload of coal for all main ports of China.
