[Fellow]In January 2021, the output of crude steel in 64 countries included in the World Iron and Steel Association was 162.9 million tons, an increase of 4.8 % over the same period last year.

Africa: January crude steel production in Africa was 1.2 million tons, down 7.9 % from the same period last year. Statistics included Egypt, Libya and South Africa.
Asia and Oceania: January crude steel production in Asia and Oceania was 119 million tons, up 6.3 % from the same period last year. Statistics included: Australia, China, India, Japan, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Korea, Taiwan, Viet Nam.
CIS region: January crude steel output in CIS region was 9.2 million tons, an increase of 4.5%. The statistics included Belarus, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Russia, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.
EU region: January EU crude steel production was 12.2 million tons, down 0.4% from the same period last year. Included in the statistics are 27 EU member States.
Other European countries: other European countries produced 4.4 million tons of crude steel in January, up 11.2 % from the same period last year. The statistics included Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Norway, Serbia, Turkey and the United Kingdom.
Middle East: the output of crude steel in January was 3.6 million tons, up 1.5% from the same period last year. Included in the statistics are: Iran, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates.
North America: North America produced 9.6 million tons of crude steel in January, down 7% from the same period last year. Statistics included Canada, Cuba, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico and the United States.
South America: South America’s crude steel output in January was 3.8 million tons, up 11.4 % from the same period last year. The statistics included Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela.
The region contains data from 64 steel producing countries, accounting for 99% of global crude steel production in 2019.
