mjunction is an online purchasing and marketing platform jointly operated by India Steel Management Company (SAIL) and Tata Group (Tata Steel). From April to November, India imported 91.44 million tons of non-coking coal, down 19.8% from a year earlier, while coking coal imports totaled 28.18 million tons, down 13.9% from a year earlier.  
According to data, India imported 20.35 million tons of coal in November, down 6.3% from 21.72 million tons a year earlier. Among them, the import of non-coking coal was 13.77 million tons, compared with 15.32 million tons in the same period last year, and the import of coking coal was 4.28 million tons, higher than 4.09 million tons in the same period last year.  
“After the holiday, demand for Indian electricity companies has slowed, inventories have increased in December, and recent increases in the international market for sea-driven coal prices could lead to further declines in future imports.” mjunction chairman and chief executive, Venaya Valma said.  
Indian state-owned Indian coal companies produce more than 80% of the country's total output. The company aims to replace 80-85 million tons of imported coal with domestic coal this fiscal year. The company said that in the 2020-21 fiscal year, it is expected to produce more than 650 million tons of coal.
