Philippines Nickel Ores Exports and Market Conditions during 2004 and 2013

During 2004 and 2008, the nickel ores export maintained a low standard. However, since 2009, it started to increase significantly, which had already reached 46.2million tons in 2013, rising by 430% compared with that of 2009.

It was acknowledged that the main export markets of Philippines Ni ores was China, Japan, and Australia as well as the newcomer-America. Based on the strong demand, China has always been at the topping list since 2006. In addition, the Ni ores proportion exported to China of Philippines had reached 80-90% for many years. Japan also located at an essential position as the major market of high Ni ores of Philippines. However, the proportion exported to Japan presented a falling trend. in 2004 and 2005, it accounted for 64-68% of the total export volume of Philippines while during 2011 and 2013, it had already sharply declined to 5%.

In 2013, Philippines exported 46.21million tons of Ni ores, of which China take up 79.6% of the total; Japan occupying 5.2% and American 11% and Australian 2.6%.
