Orion Metals (ASX:ORM) has returned high grade copper-gold results from its Broughton Creek Project in Queensland and has also extended the size of its Mt Surprise tin, tungsten and rare earth elements project.

Rock chip sampling at Broughton Creek had returned 7.7% copper and 6.55 grams per tonne gold as well as 11.1% copper and 0.77g/t gold that confirmed the strength of outcropping mineralisation at the Huggins prospect area.

It also recovered 2.5g/t gold in one stream sediment sample indicating potential for a new gold prospective area.

These highlight new areas of copper and gold anomalism.

Further field reconnaissance work is planned including prospect scale mapping and extensive rock chip sampling as well as soil sampling and expanded stream sediment sampling across EPM18075.

Orion has also been granted the 126 square kilometre EPM 18331 tenement that increases the area of its Mt Surprise tin, tungsten and rare earth elements project to over 530 square kilometres.

The area has numerous historic diggings for alluvial tin and tungsten.

Its geological environment is fertile for griesen and vein/stockwork tin tungsten deposit styles, and the visual alteration of the granites in the region suggests a fertile environment for exploration for granitic or felsic hosted tin/tungsten deposits.

The area is also considered highly prospective for rare earth elements.

Detailed technical assessment and target generation has started. Field inspection of the leases along with structured geochem sampling is expected to commence late 2014.
