North China's Shanxi Province, a major coal-producing region of the country, reported double-digit economic growth in the first three quarters of this year, official data showed.

According to the NDRC, China has seen a significant improvement in coal supply as production has expanded and prices have stabilized.

China's railways handled 122 million tonnes of coal for power generation in October, up 25 percent from the same period last year and up 21 percent from September.
