China logged a record daily output of crude steel in August as the country's economic recovery consolidates, industry data showed.

For the period, the major providers included China, India, Japan and South Korea, according to the Vietnam Steel Association.

Japan's import of ferrosilicon (silicon content > 55%) was 12277.901 tons, down 42.51% month on month and 65.4% year-on-year.

A reading above 50 indicates expansion, while a reading below reflects contraction.

The 2101 ferrosilicon contract price on ZCE closed at 5850 yuan per ton on October 9.
